Boulder Pirates

Information on boulder pirates

Pirates

One of my favorite subjects, I'm just an old pirate at hart - Err!

General Information - Individual Pirates - http://www.boulderinternetguide.com/images - Museums - Nautical - Books and Texts - Commercial Websites

Locations and Museums

  • The Mariner's Museum - Newport News, VA
Information regarding this museum's exhibits on piracy and maritime history.
  • North Carolina Archives and History
This site provides information regarding the archaeological discovery of Blackbeard's ship, the Queen Anne's Revenge, and also has stuff on pirates in general, Blackbeard, groups interested in shipwrecks, etc.
  • Pirates of Nassau Museum
A brief history of piracy in the Bahamas, as well as information about the museum. You can even explore the museum online.

Nautical Archaeology

  • Oak Island
Interesting location around Nova Scotia rumored to hold treasure successfully booby-trapped for 200 years.
  • TreasureNet
This site has some information of archaeological value, but as the Pirate King says, they're "mostly treasure hunting bastards."

General Information

  • The American Neptune
A quarterly journal of maritime history that publishes articles on a variety of nautical topics in American History. Tables of contents for some issues can be viewed online, but full text of articles requires purchase.
  • Captain Morgan's Journal
Bibliography and links, but not much else.
  • Isle of Tortuga
Formerly the "Homepage Wastrel: Piracy," this site has tons of information on piracy.
  • John's Nautical and Boatbuilding Page
Has tons of links to sources for nautical literature and a wide variety of other maritime topics.
  • The Jolly Roger
An electronic magazine about piracy that contains an art gallery.
  • Pirate's Cove
An excellent site. Not only does it have excellent information about piracy, but the author also has an excellent philosophy about nautical archaeology.
  • Pirates History
"An educational web site devoted to the subject of pirates".
  • Pirate's Hold
An interesting approach to organizing a web site on piracy. This site has sections with http://www.boulderinternetguide.com/images of pirate flags, a list of pirate films, some http://www.boulderinternetguide.com/images of maps, ships, etc.
  • Pirates of the Spanish Main
A site similar to this one, filled with all sorts of piracy-related links - look here for stuff about pirate movies or stuff for kids, as well as historical information.
