Communikey works with an extended community of digital
artists, electronic musicians and industry specialists
that live and work in all parts of the world. Promoting
digital arts in Colorado has developed a local community
that craves exposure to the global organism that is new
electronic music and art. Communikey creates a direct
line from the Colorado community to a flourishing global
industry. Bringing leaders of new technology and arts to
Boulder fosters support and momentum that was not
previously possible.
Held on Earth Day weekend, Communikey Festival provides
tools for renewable resources in a digital world.
Implementing a Zero Waste program and encouraging
pedestrian and cyclist modes of transportation,
alongside our Green Expo at the Boulder Theater, and
panel discussion dealing with sustainable practice in
digital culture, Communikey Festival intends to marry
electronic arts with sustainable lifestyle.

WHAT:
Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company (BETC) presents 2000
Tony Winner, Michael Frayn’s Copenhagen.
DESCRIPTION:
BETC is proud to present Copenhagen as our first show of
2008. Copenhagen invites the audience into a
provocative conversation about the moral
responsibilities of science and scientists, through a
fictional account of an actual meeting between Danish
physicist Niels Bohr and German physicist Werner
Heisenberg at the height of WWII.
These two eminent scientists had worked very closely
together for many years developing the physics that led
to the discovery of nuclear fission. However, with
Heisenberg having been charged by Hitler to develop the
atomic bomb for Germany, these friends and colleagues
find their relationship strained to the utmost by issues
of morality, patriotism and responsibility. This
rare feat of historical drama presents a gripping debate
surrounding issues of scientific accountability and the
practical exploitation of scientific discovery.
To further this conversation, BETC has assembled two
panels featuring local experts from the prominent
scientific community in Boulder for a discussion of the
play’s themes. Local entrepreneur and
philanthropist, Jared Polis, will serve as moderator,
and the panels will feature such prominent and renowned
local scientists as Carol Cleland, Allan Franklin,
Leland Giovannelli, Konrad Steffen and John Richardson.
The production will feature the entire BETC ensemble,
with Rebecca Remaly directing a cast of Bob Buckley
(Bohr), Stephany Roscoe (Margrethe) and Stephen Weitz
(Heisenberg).
WHEN:
Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, Feb 14 through Mar 1.
Two-for-one preview performance, Thursday, Feb 14.
