The Career Development Office is pleased to invite all three classes to attend JD Pathways on January 11, 2013. This day-long, conference-style event is designed to educate and inspire Colorado Law students about their career options.
JD Pathways will begin at 10:00 am on January 11, the last Friday before spring classes begin.
Mock interviews will be scheduled in the CDO interview rooms (and other rooms in the Wolf Law Building) from 9:00 - 10:00 am, 12:00 - 1:00 pm, and 3:30 - 4:30 pm. You will interview with an attorney for 20 minutes, and will receive 10 minutes of live feedback. To the extent we have cameras available, interviews will be taped so you can receive additional feedback at a later date from the CDO. To participate, simply RSVP for JD Pathways in the Events section of CDOnline. All those who RSVP will be given additional information on mock interview registration.
A Strong Interest Inventory assessment will also be available from 9:00 - 9:50 am. The Strong Interest Inventory assessment is one of the world's most widely respected and frequently used career planning tools and this session will extend the inventory to legal and law-related careers. Participants need to complete a 20-minute, online assessment before the session. To receive a link to the assessment and further instructions, RSVP for JD Pathways in the Events section of CDOnline and email Annie Wills (annie.wills@colorado.edu) with your intent to participate. This will be on a first come, first served basis. This session will be capped at 10 students.
Panel Discussions will be held in Rooms 304 and 305 throughout the day.
JD Pathways will also include a lunch and reception to be held in the Student Commons.
Every other Wednesday, the CDO will host Wednesday Morning Coffee's with different attorneys from around the area. This casual setting gives students the chance to chat with attorneys in the field and enjoy free coffee and bagels.

On November 13, 2012, Colorado Law is hosting the annual Government & Public Interest Law Career Fair. Law students and recent alumni attending this event have the opportunity to interact with representatives of various public interest and government agencies. Last year, over 40 public interest and (federal, state and local) government employers participated in the event.
To prepare for interviews with legal employers, its important to understand what the employer is trying to accomplish in a brief 20-30 interviewer. Its also critical to think about and prepare responses to some commonly used interview questions, and to understand what aspects of your background you should highlight. This training session will culminate in brief role playing exercise that will prepare you for mock interviews and OCI in early 2013.
The Career Development Office is holding a workshop for 1Ls to go over the do's and don'ts of cover letter composition. Plan to take advantage of this workshop, as it will help you get a jump on your summer job search. Dean Rogers and Alexia McCaskill will be leading this session.
