Acupuncture originated in China over 3,000 years ago and is presently used as a primary health care system throughout the world. It is a method of balancing and building the body's life force or energy known as "qi." Traditional Chinese medicine views disease as the result of an imbalance or blockage in the body's natural energy flow. Such imbalance manifests in physical, emotional and psychosomatic stress-related disorders. Very thin, sterile, stainless steel needles are inserted into specific points along energy pathways, called meridians, in order to disperse the blockage and mobilize the body's natural immune response. The World Health Organization says acupuncture can be beneficial in many medical conditions ranging from neurological and gastrointestinal to mental and emotional ones.

Hendrickson Method of Orthopedic Massage and Manual Therapy This advanced system of orthopedic therapy brings together a dynamic combination of massage, mobilization, and neuromuscular re-education, synthesized with Eastern energy practices. Clients receive a soothing session that provides pain-relief and functional rehabilitation. Precise and extremely effective, the Hendrickson Method is a suitable therapy for most orthopedic conditions including low back pain, whiplash, and rotator cuff injuries. This exceptional system of functional rehabilitation uses techniques that stimulate the synthesis of new cells, re-hydrates cartilage, and realigns soft tissue. At its core is a one-of-a-kind stroke called wave mobilization®, so named because its gentle rocking motion mimics ocean waves.

Integrative Massage draws from a multitude of therapeutic modalities based on the needs specific to the individual. Swedish massage is used to relax and restore circulation to muscles and nerves both before and after vigorous deep tissue manipulation, deep tissue release, and acupressure. Myofasical techniques bring the system of connective tissue into harmony, allowing the practitioner to get in deeply, yet gently. Energetic work is used to restore balance between the emotional body, Chakra system, and endocrine centers. An Integrative Massage allows the client to stay deeply relaxed and journey inward to experience a deep, whole body release.

Ortho-Bionomy is an osteopathic-based form of bodywork that helps people to break the cycle of pain, without causing pain. It is very effective in recovery from injuries, surgery and stress. This is accomplished by reducing muscle tension, soothing the joints, increasing flexibility and range of movement, improving circulation and relaxing the entire body. Postural work and gentle movement exercises further enhance their neuro-muscular reeducation process and empower the individual to interact with their own internal communication process to gently restore balance.

Muscle Activation Technique (MAT) is a comprehensive form of therapeutic bodywork that utilizes a unique system of muscle therapy and range of motion analysis to restore the body’s alignment, ability to move without pain, and enhance performance of everything from the simple tasks of daily living to reaching optimal athletic performance. Practitioners of this technique view muscle tightness as a form of protection for the body, and focus on activating weak or inhibited muscles which create imbalances that cause other muscles to tighten up in order to help stabilize and protect associated joints and vital structures. MAT is used to get to the root of pain or injury and is a fantastic treatment to restore normal body alignment, biomechanics, and mobility, thereby, decreasing pain and reducing the risk of injury.

Swedish Massage The classic form people usually think of when they say the word "massage". There are five basic strokes all used to enhance circulation toward the heart. Vigorous manipulation of the soft tissue in the form of broad general strokes is combined with specific work on problem areas to enhance flow of blood and lymph, relax tense muscles, and energize the body.

Tui Na is an ancient form of Chinese therapeutic deep-tissue bodywork. It is very effective in treating joint pain, sciatica, muscle spasms, and pain in the back, neck and shoulders. It also helps chronic conditions such as insomnia, constipation, headaches (including migraines); and the tension associated with stress.

Tui Na methods include the use of hand and arm techniques to massage the muscles and tendons of the body, stimulation of acupressure points to directly affect the flow of Chi energy and manipulation techniques to realign the musculo-skeletal and ligamentous relationships.

In addition to Tui Na working directly with the muscles, bones and joints of the body, it also works with balancing the energy of the body at a deeper level thereby contributing to increased health, energy and overall well being.
